Held by the Tide

24" x 48" | Cyanotype with Gold Leaf on Stretched Fine Art Paper, Mounted on Cradled Panel

Held by the Tide captures a quiet force — the way water gathers and releases, guiding fragments of light across its depths. Indigo and teal currents flow beneath delicate fissures of gold leaf, like sunlight fractured on open sea. Created through a process of cyanotype combined with poured inks, salt, and water, this piece evolves unpredictably, mirroring the natural rhythms that shape each tide. No two moments — or marks — are ever the same.

Crafted through an intuitive cyanotype process using fluid ink, salt, and water, this piece developed in dialogue with natural light and chance. Each mark, bloom, and streak was shaped by evaporation, reaction, and time — impossible to plan, impossible to replicate.
