Shadow Sounding
14" x 18" | Cyanotype with Ink and Gold Leaf on Cradled Panel
Shadow Sounding moves like a quiet echo through deep water — where fissures of gold trace subtle divides, and light seems to hover before it sinks. Created through a process of cyanotype layered with inks, salt, and hand-applied gold leaf, this piece evolves organically, guided by water’s own currents.
Its shifting depths invite closer looking: bright scatterings rise like plankton or distant stars, while soft vertical flows pull the eye deeper into stillness. Each mark is singular, shaped by chance and chemistry — a fleeting tide held in permanent form.
Created through an intuitive cyanotype process with inks, salt, and water, the composition was exposed to natural light and shaped by chance. The forms that emerged evoke the ever-shifting edge between sea and sky — fluid yet grounded, intricate yet open.
